Our first assignment was a group activity where we had to design our own ‘Munny’ and then model it together.
We started the process by creating a mindmap on Miro on the theme of Adaptation and how we interpreted it.

We found our interest gravitating towards animals and how they adapt to their habitat. Our discussion moved to the topic of Tardigrades, which are microscopic creatures who’s adaptations mean they can withstand the conditions in space.
We found imagery online relating to the Tardigrade.

Using the above images as inspiration, we then collectively designed our tardigrade-themed Munny.

With a rough idea established, we divided parts of the model between the group which we would each make in Maya or Blender.
I modelled the arms, and used a combination of SculptGL and Maya to do so. I aimed to give the arms a lumpy texture to mimic the tardigrade’s form, as well as its long claws.

When we had each modelled our individual pieces, one of the group members put them together and added textures. We went for neon shades to further enhance the space theme.

The finished modelled was then put into a short video:
