In order to practise doing basic animations in Maya, we were tasked with animating two distinctly different objects falling and hitting the floor.
I chose to animate a bottle and a bubble, because they are entirely different in terms of materials and would each fall down in a distinct way.

I took some reference videos to help me animate the movements.
In order to show the objects interacting with one another, I animated the bubble rising out from the bottle. It reminded me of a wizard’s potion, so I opted for a moody HDRI to use as a background image. I chose a wood texture for the floor, because my reference video also had a wooden floor.
I think that the finished animation of the bottle was a little choppy, and probably needs some more refining. Unfortunately I wasn’t sure how to properly animate the bubble popping, so I made the size decrease very quickly to make it look like it popped when touching the floor.
